Family Fun Festival 2022
As summer 2022 drew to its conclusion, the ACE Center for New Americans of the Massachusetts Baptist Multicultural Ministries (MBMM) held its annual Family Fun Festival for the refugee and immigrant families of Lowell, MA. The community (Afghani, Bhutanese, Burmese, Cambodian) gathered at Shedd Park Pavilion for an afternoon of food, family, and fun. Festivities began at 4:00 p.m. and ran until 6:30 p.m.
Within the pavilion, ACE Center staff and volunteers served steamed halal hot dogs, freshly popped popcorn, freeze-pops, and beverages all at no cost to the attendees. Beyond the refreshments the were numerous opportunities to have fun and be entertained. Children were treated to face painting. A balloon twister was on hand to make a wide range of creations—crowns, mohawks, corsages, swords, and animals galore for children and adults alike.
Outside the pavilion on the lawn were a wide variety of lawn games—Cornhole, Giant Jenga, Connect Four, Tic-Tac-Toe, and more for all to play. Jenga proved to draw the most joyous and competitive play, including several intense matches involving MBMM’s Executive Director, Mar Imsong.
We hope everyone who attended had a good time. We hope to see many, if not all of you, at future events. We would also like to acknowledge all the volunteers, staff, and the Aerialicious Entertainment balloon twister who worked to made the event a success.
