A Night of Celebration and Reflection.
On the evening of November 6th 2021 the Massachusetts Baptist Multicultural Ministries (MBMM) community comprised of family, friends and neighbors gathered together at the Mount Pleasant Golf Club for its 10th Annual Gala & Silent Auction and 11th Annual Business Meeting. This event is held each year to raise funds to support the ACE Center for New Americans programs and recognize its supporters. It is a chance to commune and enjoy an evening of food, fun and entertainment.
About a hundred people attended the event this year making it an intimate affair. The usually small gathering can be attributed to ongoing COVID-19 concerns. To ensure guest safety we observed the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommended guidelines. Despite the small size the evening was an overwhelming success.
Slavin in the Kitchen served a menu of hors d’eourves, rich with ethnically diverse flavors. Guests sampled the cuisine while being serenaded by Women of the World (WoW), an ensemble of musicians from different corners of the globe. Congruently, participants peruse items in the silent auction and gift card raffle. More than seventy-five items were donated for the auction and raffle. We are thankful for the generosity of those individuals and organizations the donated toward the cause.
MBMM also used the function as an opportunity to honor several worthy individuals. Bestowing its Annual Award for Visionary and Honorable Christian work in “Weaving God’s Love Across Cultures” a plaque was presented to Rev. Michael Harvey to mark the specificity. Rev. Dr. Maung Htwe was recognized as Volunteer of the year and received a plaque to commemorate his achievements. Both, Rev. Michael Harvey and Edwin Hobart were awarded the title Director Emeritus and were given certificates in their honor. Congratulations to all the award recipients and thank you for your ongoing service.
We would also like to thank all the event sponsors and donors of items for the auction/raffle. Without your continued support MBMM and the ACE Center for New Americans would not be able to help refugees and immigrants navigate their path to self-sufficiency, inclusion, and active citizenship.
